Field of interest
I work with factors of success for local and regional foods and with communication of added values through for example protected designations of origin within the EU. One project concern how added values are communicated through entire chains of actors. In my research I also work with sustainable food consumption and design of environmental information for decision support regarding food. This has included for instance comparison of different assessment tools and environmental assessments of food systems. In 2002 I performed an investigation of the environmental impact of the decision making of the National Food Administration including descriptions of 12 methods for estimating of environmental impact of food products. In 2008 I was responsible for the scientific investigation forming the basis for the work of the National Food administration on how the Swedish population may eat in accordance with the national dietary recommendations in a more environmentally clever way. A recently started project in 2010 concerns estimating the environmental impact and economy of food waste in food stores and development of measures to reduce this waste. Perceptions of staff and consumers regarding waste and the actions taken will be addressed. Other fields where I am active include garden history, rural development and experiences associated to food and site specific resources. During 2006-2009 I was director of study of the research school Swedish Research School in Organic Food and Farming Systems (SwOFF).
